Chimney Sweeping and Power Sweeping
Most of our chimney sweeping is done using the new Power Sweeping method, which is proven to be more affective at removing soot and stubborn deposits that can build up inside the chimney without damaging the actual chimney itself. The equipment we use is the very latest cutting edge technology developed in Europe and America and we have adapted the system for the English market. The Vacuums we use are industrial triple motored and are HEPA filtered for extra protection. We also utilise a European method called a "Viper system" which is a coil of flexible wire for sweeping gas and oil lined flues and chimneys. The old fashioned method of sweeping with screw together rods and brush is outdated and only used nowadays in very exceptional circumstances.
The primary reason for the sweeping of chimneys is to remove flammable creosote which causes chimney fires. These extremely fierce fires can be very dangerous and possibly lead to house fires and loss of life.
Secondary reasons for sweeping of flues are to ensure a clear passage way which the toxic exhaust gasses can escape through. Deaths through carbon monoxide poisoning have been well documented in the press. A major cause is a blocked flue way.

For chimneys that are no longer used the .1.4.U.2.Call advises that a blanking off cap is fitted to stop heat loss up the chimney and to avoid rain water from entering the chimney and causing problems from damp.
